New Super Mario Bros Wii‘s new “Super Guide” isn’t something that is for everyone. The mode allows players to view a play through of a level done by  CPU. Players have to have some interactivity with the game though; the player has to have tried the level at least eight times (or at least purposely kill their selves eight times) before getting the option to watch a play through.

These play through show Luigi going through a level. The play through wont reveal any secret passages or short cuts, taking only the single most obvious route.  You can take control over Luigi at any point during the play through and finish a level. Although from the sound of this, you could just let it play through the entire level and then take control at the very end if you really wanted too.

I know that some people aren’t exactly happy about the edition, but I view it as a way that Nintendo can put more challenging content without completely alienating the casual consumer. We will have to wait and see if the system helps anyone when New Super Mario Bros Wii hits November 15th in North America and November 20th in Europe exclusively for Wii.

This sounds good, but most Mario games are pretty linear and if this is anything like the DS version, it doesn’t need it IMO :/
